We were brought into this project by interior designer Julie Novy to transform a lakeside home for avid travelers and wine enthusiasts in Lakewood, Illinois. The owners, empty nesters with a large family, desired a space for entertaining. The residence on Crystal Lake boasts a private dock and stunning lake views. O'Brien Harris meticulously crafted cabinetry, enhancing spaces like the primary bath, kitchen, dining room/bar, and more.
The kitchen, designed with an open plan and two islands, facilitates seamless entertaining. The homeowners' penchant for organization is evident in custom features such as pocket doors for small appliance storage and specialized drawer inserts for knives, K cups, utensils, and cookware. A striking custom hood, crafted with polished stainless-steel banding and a body featuring stainless steel with a light patina, anchors the space. With polished stainless steel cuffed foot details, the islands exude a furniture-like quality in a white Barely There painted finish. At the same time, perimeter cabinetry showcases rift and quartered white oak with a custom finish and a mix of slab doors and drawers featuring a stepped profile with dovetail construction and walnut finished drawer interiors.
